Lord Shiva is an eternal cosmic wonder & mystery! None prior to Him! Spartan & stoic, yet superb & sublime – omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent! The positive vibes out of Him turn even the foes into friends – the mouse, the serpent, the peacock, the bull and the lion or the tiger – in a spirit of perfect eco-harmony! A unifier of the opposite forces – fire and water; ashes and wealth! Source of all syllables, sounds and dance! Embodiment of the equality of the male and the female. Countless & fathomless are His facets & attributes!
And I join you by offering my own posy of poesy to Lord Shiva (already published elsewhere) –
THE THREE-EYED GOD
Oh the fair skinned God with blueberry garland!
You sit down on the frozen slabs of the snowy heights
bare trunked, and unmindful of the howling winds of chill
gently closing your eyes and sinking
into austere multi-solar-hot meditation
with a cobra-sharp focus.
It turns your system intense and blazing
and threatens to incinerate the entire heavens and galaxies.
Sensing it in time with your third eye, you just will it…
And, lo and behold! The limpid celestial cataract over your head
springs up and gushes down in a silvery torrential column.
Feeling it not ample to soften the fiery geyser in your inside
you draw further coolth from the crescent on your crest.
The deep and austere penance galvanizes you
into cosmic fireball of over-brimming energy.
From the tranquil steady lapidary mood
you fling up into a dance vigorous and cosmic
to release particles of your charged energy
for the benefit of the universe.
The omniscient that you are
you from your divine drum
transmit the seminal wisdom
in coded bytes –
Aiun, Rlk…Aiouch
Hayavarat…Ghadhadhash …Hal -
for the benefit of humanity.
Your three eyes: Past, Present and Future
of the cyclical continuum of time.
The ashen triple mark on your forehead:
Truth, Auspiciousness, Beauty
(Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram).
The tines of your trident:
The recurrent rhythmic processes of
Generation, Operation, Dissolution.
You are the phallic shaft
rootless, topless, and spinning
with eye-blinding light:
the ever churning universe.
The God of gods, you exemplify
perfect equality of womanhood.
You’ve made your consort your real ‘better half’
and symbolise verily the Nature-Man symbiosis.
The eco-philic God that you are
your melting presence makes
the seemingly mutually-inimical fauna
mouse-snake-peacock-bull-tiger
indulge in fun and frolic together.
Omnipotent and omnipresent,
yet you’ve made your home
not in a swanky marmoreal palace
but in the eerily-desolate necropolis
to signify the treasure out of ashes.
Oh Lord, unto you I pray
the God of Aum
the primordial sound
and the chant of chants.
Oh, the egalitarian God,
the ready giver of benign boons!
Grant us universal bliss and harmony!

Life-Death Dance of the Divine Lord!

In the tresses of the Lord I find the meaning of the whole Universe
And in the flying tresses I see all the stars of the sky;
In the art of dancing maintains He poise with the balancing of His long legs
And in the beautifully gesticulating hands makes He perfect His eternal art!
How to Realize God?
The symbolic expressions of His face give birth to poems immortal
For the devotees to sing in rapturous joy in union with the Lord’s beats!
All the people singing prayer songs in unity become one with the divine Lord;
In the unity of all the beings only can we feel the power of the one Supreme being,
Who is the cause of all the creations and the end of all the beings.
War and Peace
War and peace go on continually in the infinite universe;
Storm and breeze go on continually in the brain of man;
And so war and peace are a common thing in the world of man also.
World War is not the need now as was in the old hour;
World peace is the utmost need of all in the present hour.
The world over poverty, unemployment and disease are enough to fight against;
Why should we have another war of the nations in the world?
In the trades of the world there are many problems due to the oil crisis;
And the industries of the world need power from nuclear energy and other sources.
But some nations like to have Nuclear war with the neighbours!
Are they mad to play with the deadly deterrence of war once more?
Have they forgotten the ravages of the two World Wars?
For acquiring wealth there were wars in the world;
In the name of religion there were wars among nations;
In the name of races there were wars between nations;
And there were wars for various causes and reasons in the world.
It seemed history was repeating itself in the past;
Now again history seems to replay the past caring little for the causes and consequences!
So, suppress all the inhuman, brutalistic, mad ideas with a firm foot underground!
And leap high in human spirit to the divine stature
Ever erect, enthusiastic and elevating to the regions of the divine beings!
That is the way real human poise between life and death can surely be attained
And that is the open secret of the Cosmic dance of the Divine Lord!
