I had a mirror, a mirror with magic
A beautiful thing that’s beyond logic
Seen through it,
The hills and the vales
Simply turned into
The Fairy tales,
The grass looked greener
Sky seemed cleaner,
Images were fanciful, as
I gazed on like a dreamer.
Harsh realities of my world
Turned and swirled,
In the globe,
Like a magic potion
A medley of lushness,
A heady concoction.
Through this wondrous doorway
Any time, night and day
I could view
Your beautiful creation and You
For all beatific display and show,
In Nature, this was my window
But
Your single error
Broke the mirror
The hairline crack
Will never go away
Images have turned black
The fairness gone astray
My precious looking-glass
Is no more enchanted
Bewitching reflections
Have, now, become haunted
I’ve lost my fantasy, my dreams
Reality is never pretty, it seems
Through tears I blankly stare
Only if you could’ve handled
It with care.
