Theme: Lord

How Long, O' Lord?

How long will this shadow last?
The hope is bound in chain.
Sound of joy and laughter seized,
All efforts are in vain.

How long my Lord this pouring rain?
The flood has swept the land.
How long for promise shall I wait?
Where is Thy rainbow's hand?

Climb, You said, didn't I try?
The strength is failing fast.
Some bleeding footprints left behind,
How long the thorns will last?

Wait: You asked, patiently I did,
The years are fleeting by.
The comfort gone, courage failed,
Help the wounded wings to fly.

The night is dark, a stormy sea,
The waves are raging high.
The ship is weak and weather-worn,
In tempest its breaths sigh.

Show me that yonder Promised Land,
Faith is the only guide.
I pray for Thy leading light,
And fortress strong to hide.
