Theme: Swan

Swans

Saunter into this lush park.
In the middle of a limpid pond
a fountain dancing out
in ecstasy. I beseech,
drink of its virtue

See, the crystal water ripples
just so slightly —
from behind the fountain
out glide two swans, majestic
in their ebon splendour; their

cygnets flap ridiculously
unaware of their comical bearing.
Why should they care?
Deep within they know
they are born to frolic gracefully

They will skim the water
for sheer delight
not for you or me.
Tarry. Do not hurry,
hang around a while

Something unnameable
could be about to happen
Something stirring
Perhaps a gift for your soul —
Who can ever know?
