Shorn of their foliage
deforested and defaced
they tranquilly withstand
assault after violent assault —
natural and man-inflicted
The flood of progress
has altered their facade
tea bushes have supplanted
native vegetation and flora
the fauna too has thinned out
Towering majestically,
these sage-like hills
articulate wordlessly
the wisdom of centuries
garnered through the ravages of time
Full of mercy, these sprawling giants
exude inner beauty
accept with equanimity and dignity
the daily alien tumult of life
that grinds across their tremulous bosoms
Can you hear their tacit poetry
feel their healing aura
as it infiltrates the spirit?
Freeze all inner dialogue
Shh! Listen. Be still and listen deeply
You will hear the peace entering you.
