I recollect the road journey of my heyday,
About two hundred km commute that day,
Not a rational travel to Adoni* by any say,
The itinerary being rugged half the way.
The APSRTC** rests its frequent jerks and jolts,
With its seats being the slingshots and catapults,
Off the knee-deep and neck-breaking patches,
All travails… on the Road Contractor’s botches.
But very few knew, he ran for his dear life,
Afraid of the local politicians, over a strife,
Who claimed kickbacks – rumours are rife,
As region’s officialdom made mute its fife.
From Kurnool, half the journey up to Kodumur***
One to catch back-ache and spondylitis for sure,
The engulfing dirt as the sole witness to ensure,
Mayhem of the body beyond any doctor’s cure.
