Pockmarked

As in many Indian cities, so in life
We hunt for a road between potholes
Pits created on the weak surfaces of living...
Some tarred with preconditioning,
Others with our ego.
Round-the-clock traffic compounds woes
Of a path washed-out by sorrows.

Truck loads of arrogance,
Ever-evolving must-have greed-cars,
Bikes of superiority-fueled beliefs
Other two wheelers lubricated
By holier-than-thou postures
All jostle around, mindless travelers
Going nowhere.

Defective childhood signals,
The establishment,
Parents, teachers, friends are
All held intermittently responsible
Butted onto the bumpy trail of guilt
All, except...
