At her wits’ end, wondering where to find the next meal
for her one-month old babe,
frantically she hunted for that ‘specialized formula'.
Her joy knew no bounds
when she heard the local store had stock;
waiting patiently at the aisle for her turn,
she was flabbergasted when the couple
moved on with their booty – 40 cans of formula
and the shelves were empty!
When she begged the elderly couple
for just four cans, the man ‘scowled'.
Not their problem!
Angry, anxious and pushed to the limits,
her motherly instinct surfaced in seconds.
She ‘grabbed’ a few cans from their cart
even as they screamed, howled and abused.
As she was checking out, the Manager said:
“Next time, get assistance instead of grabbing it!”
The ferocious tiger within calmed down;
she wondered if she was legally right –
‘Technically, it is not illegal'.
What about hoarding???
PS: Had been reading several stories about baby food shortage...it truly is painful. We have money in the world for destructive purposes, we are unable to nurture a newborn easily in today's scenario.... |
