In the blink of an eye
It changed, the world as we knew it
And everything in it.
Our values and mores,
Our parameters and our perspectives,
Our vision, our thoughts, our liberty
In the wake of the apocalypse.
Before us stretches a blurred vista
Contrary, unfamiliar, inverted and distorted,
Shapeless, amorphous, dangerous,
From slow-motion to accelerated locomotion,
Lurching into the maelstrom of chaos.
Our thinking has changed;
What we cherished, learnt, taught and held dear
Protected, adored and preserved
Don’t seem to matter in this new world.
Our thinking has narrowed
We have diminished and regressed
Unable to grasp the wider issues,
Helplessly witnessing decay and decadence unfold.
Once men of honour walked the earth
They stood tall, they spoke the truth. The age of gravitas is over
