Forgive Me for Forgetting You

What a crime—
The passage of time
Made me forget you
And your love I knew!

Twenty-eight years ago, today,
Mama, you suddenly passed away
And life changed a lot—
Over time, you I forgot.

Your eventful life
Was full of strife—
Losing two sisters, dad
And two sons made you sad.

For all you did
While your grief you hid,
To you I owe
My life, I know.

So forgive me for forgetting you—
All that you did do
Year after year,
With a love so sincere.
