Longing for the sun,

Longing for the one

Whose presence in the sky

Somehow makes me high

With its light and heat,

A sumptuous treat,

Especially on a December day

With clouds here to stay.

Longing for the sun,

Longing for some fun

On a rainswept day,

Cold and gray,

With north wind blowing,

And my heart knowing

I'll have to wait for a while

To see the sun and smile.

Before the day is done,

To caress my face

With its warm embrace, 

And energize my heart, 

By giving a jump-start,
