Theme: Wastage

Who Sheds Tears?

Who sheds tears
For a Christmas tree now dead?

I lived only for a few years;
I was born and bred
To be cut and sold
For the Christmas holidays;
Beautiful to behold,
A family couldn't stop to gaze
And took me to their home,
Decorating me with toys
Golden and chrome;
Their girls and boys
Played around me,
Enjoying the Christmas season;
But now, you see,
For no good reason,
They have thrown me out,
For I'm of no further use,
Stripped of toys, no doubt,
Treating me like refuse;
Now cold and dead,
I lie outside their gate;
A shredder I dread,
But that's my fate.

Who sheds tears
For a Christmas tree now dead?

Comment How true and soul-touching! Are we not doing the same to certain relationships also? The bitter truth of our life and our selfishness are nicely presented.

Comment How touching, and yet this is true of ALL material living. The things we buy, accumulate and treasure so dearly are disposed off for pennies at garage sales, thrown in dumpsters or we are willing to pay someone to take this garbage away!
