When They Grow Up

She's there for them

As long as they please,

Comforting, nesting

putting them at ease.

And then they grow up,

ready to explore

a new world whole,

beyond her control.

But she doesn't know

How to let go.

Knowing it's futile

Yet all the while

Wishing to walk

the path for them.

Refusing to yield 

trying to shield 

Her offsprings own

Who have long since grown....
