The little toddler grabbed the headlines
Though too young to walk or talk
Or realize what was in store
When she slipped from her tired mother’s lap
Landing in the middle of the Munnar-Marayur road
From the open jeep, they were travelling
Perhaps sheer instinct made her go crawling
Little knowing where she was heading
Looking helpless and wailing
Thanks to an auto-rickshaw driver passing by
Alerting the forest officials nearby
Together rescuing the toddler from the wild
Soon returning the child to her parents
Who failed to notice she was missing,
Being exhausted to the bone after their pilgrimage
To the Palani Temple in South.
Nothing short of a miracle, they felt
Thanking God for His Blessings
For having got the toddler back,
Who was happy sitting in her mother’s lap.
