In a global perspective,
For the millions of Hindus
As also believers worldwide
A holy dip at the Triveni-Sangam
The confluence of majestic holy rivers
Ganga, Yamuna & legendary Sarasvati
During the Maha Kumbh at Prayagraj
Has remained a matter of religiosity
Symbolic to a deep faith and conviction.
But for me it’s an iconic event
Of the Sanatana culture & tradition
In the land of Vedas and Upanishads
Far more and much above the religion -
A narrow definition of varying faiths.
Since ancient times for ages
The Sanatana Dharma represents
An eternal way of the righteous life
Based on the judicious concepts like: Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Sarva Dharma Samabhava Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah*.
Both terms Kumbh and Mela
Find a mention in the scriptures
Including the one oldest “Rigveda”
The event represents a holy combination
Of the spirituality and astronomy -
The science of planets and constellations
Therefore it’s no wonder
That just concluded Maha Kumbh Mela
Has set several world records, including
Over six hundred fifty million people
Taking a spiritual bath at the mega event.
* Meaning of 3 Great Sanskrit Vakyas above:
(in the same order)
The whole world is one family.
All faiths lead to the same destination.
Let everyone live happily.
The Kumbh Mela happens every 12 years when Jupiter transits Aquarius and the Ardh (half) Kumbh Mela occurs when Jupiter transits Leo. Such combination(s) create a powerful spiritual energy.
Jupiter is called Guru in the Hindu sciences because it works as a shield protecting the earth from the onslaught of comets and asteroids.
The Maha Kumbh Mela happens when Jupiter, Sun and Moon reach the following alignments:
a) at Prayagraj when Jupiter transits Aquarius, the Sun enters Aries, and the Moon is in Capricorn, as in 2025. b) at Haridwar (expected in 2157) when Jupiter will transit in Aquarius, the sun is in Aries and the Moon is in Sagittarius. c) at Nashik, when Jupiter transits Leo and the sun and the moon are in Cancer and d) at Ujjain when Jupiter is in Leo and the sun and moon are in Aries.
