Flowers on the Pathway

I picked up
Some of these
Autumn flowers
Wounded wonders
That dropped
On the pathway
Now in my palm
Still bright
With color
But…
Like fading hopes
I gently placed them
At the feet
Of the mother tree
Their shrine
