The devil reversed -
I must let you go
You took my light
Replaced it with shadow

Picked out my heart
Dropped it from a bridge
Into murky waters
Never to recover.

At your cold touch,
I felt nothing
And yet your memory
Was ecstasy to me
Feeding my fantasy

But you don’t care
Not in the way others do
And what’s all of this for,
Anyway?

There’s beauty in desire
And brokenness too
Yet this drug will ruin me
If I’m not careful.

I have to leave,
Run towards my freedom
Bask in the glory
Of life beyond you

I know and yet, still,
I write about you.

You’re the rope
I can’t break out of
The blindfold
I can’t see through

But I pray and I hope
That someone will find me
Or somehow
I’ll cut myself loose

Before you end up
Tying my noose.
