Looking back
You were a blessing
A miracle indeed
Memories flash by
Scones in the chapel,
A sleepover, in your room
Watching videos
You made years ago.
Sharing music,
Sharing food,
And, then, sharing stomach pains
Sharing beautiful city views
And our stupidity too, perhaps,
When we ascended eight flights
Of stairs, just to find that
The door was locked.
We’ve been weird
And wonderful together
Suspicious meowing noises
Suspectful conversations
And ordinary chats
About our childhood memories,
Future hopes, and our days
And weeks, whether mundane
Or eventful.
For these past three years
Somehow you
Were always there
And sometimes I fear
That I take you for granted
That I got used to you
Grew distant and heartless
But then I remember
The utter joy that I feel
When you walk into the room
It’s been a wonderful time indeed.
I will miss you when you’re gone
Thanks for existing
And bringing your light
Into my life
And I’m sorry if I never
Quite gave you as much
As you deserved.
