Every time you write a poem about me
I feel reassured I wasn't just
a beautiful accident in your life.

You keep telling us we two
are your eyes. One is left and
another right'the relevance
of their vision to you is the same.

Tell me Ma, when you close both
your eyes in meditation
who lingers behind your lids
as your thoughts fade into silence.
