The streets remain deserted Children watch anxiously from behind curtains Where will all this violence lead? What kind of hatred in future generations will it breed? The Dalits appear to be an angry lot Vying with each other just to spot The culprit who desecrated their leader's statue But is that the real reason or just another false virtue?
Their intent to destroy is so strong That they will across India walk the extra furlong In the hope that they will more supporters find We can only hope that their following does not remain blind That the educated population goes up in arms And raises all the right and timely alarms Against this blatant attempt to cause unnecessary terror In a city that is always sensitive to religious fervor
We are not the only ones to see through the disguise The responsible press and cognoscenti realize That this is only an attempt to get cheap publicity To mislead the common man with audacity So that he falsely led in to believing That these self appointed watchdogs are not thieving We need therefore to quickly educate the illiterate masses So that they do not fall victim to self-serving asses
