I pondered one day while watching a typical street corner
Cell phone yeller, driving and honking at all walkers
Cell phone yeller, walking and loaded down with bags of temporary fashion
Neither of them noticing the man with no money
Whether by choice or if chosen, he lives in despair
Anyway, I thought about what might happen if we had a global event
And every single person in the world participated
Not hands across a benefit concert while we wear ribbons on our tux lapels
Not fashionable causes that morph with new religions
But rather a 2 minute exercise with no need for spandex
In jungles, in Jeeps, in rags and in Ritz
At chateaus, at shanties, at war and at peace
With strangers, with families, with friends and with no-one
While working, while walking, both infants and adults
We all would stop to acknowledge our beauty
The focus would be achieved through repetition
We all would say or think about love
Love, love, love, love
Amor, amor, amor, amor
And so on, and so on, and so on
I wonder what pictures from space of earth might look like
I can see the streets and the fields that would glow
I even can hear the silence that all listen to
I foresee all of us rediscovering our smiles
I don't really care how we have to convince all to do it
But if even one doesn't do it, we all will fail
Finally the whole world would be connected in stillness
Finally we would understand one another
In somebody's mind are the words "It's impossible"
I am sending my love directly to you
In somebody's heart are old wounds that protect
I am sending my love directly to you
In somebody's calendar are prioritized meetings
I am sending my love directly to you
As I think about and articulate it I realize
That it will be achieved in some way or some fashion
My intentions are pure which provides the assurance
That "2 Minutes of Love" is going to happen |
