The Open Door

Before I was born, perched up high
I dreamt I crossed a golden sky

On falcon's wings, eyes pierced bright
A rushing wind, a radiant light

I thought the rush of exalted flight
Would delay my descent into material night

But guided by mercy and deep love
I fell like a streak into my body from above

I breathed and crawled and ate and slept
I dreamed and learned and ran and wept

I laughed and cried then died and rose
Then watched the show of the roads I chose

My destiny was written in elegant script
From cradle to youth to age to crypt

The golden sky lit all these scenes
Of life's seasons, hopes and dreams

And now each day of live and die
I dream I cross a golden sky

On falcon's wings, eyes pierced bright
A rushing wind, a radiant light

Exalted and grand am I no more
I wait for you at the open door
