An early snow falls
as tree branches lift their icy limbs
winter begins
in this storm swept world
there's the neighbor
out in her yard making her plans
and once again
it's just like the globe of crystal
sitting on the mantle
gently shake
the snow begins
and winter comes alive
Outside the window
the moon settles softly in her flight
she keeps the time
counting every hour
as the night turns slowly to morning
in the town
words come around
to charcoal shadows by the firelight
searching for an answer
through random thoughts
of seasons lost
'til every candle dies
