Theme: Disillusionment

Cardiac Arrest

Sitting here,
Whittling time away
Pieces of my wooden heart
On the scrap heap lay
Knowing that we’re through
My heart like wood petrified
A dried up fossil
Once full of life
Has shriveled up and died,
A death undeserved
But in your memory preserved,
A token of your exploits gone undeterred.
Pruning the dead tissue and feeling no pain,
But ruining my chances of ever feeling again!
