The resistance to God’s presence in the world
is based on invisibility to perception, yet
there are a myriad metaphorical examples
of how we derive proof simply by effects.
Take air, the invisible supporter of life – or
blood with its invisible legions of platelets –
magnification exposes; or, these days, dark
matter, energy and flow, known only by effects.
But what of God? – whose proof is in the least
effect – whose science is faith, whose presence
puts the whole creation in proper perspective,
beginning, duration, and end, backed by effects.
To those who rule out God, out goes the harmony
of effects, in come the alternate theories,
groping by nature all, hazarded on what is
perceived to be the case, confirmed by effects.
Best to admit the ever-receding foundation
of effects provided by science, a misguided
faith, and tune it to the Divine presence
where science is fulfilled, enlightened by effects.
