Butterflies Can Astound

TigerSwallowtailButterfly1.jpg

It was a Sunday,
Yes, it was sun's day,
Hot, humid and sunny,
So I said: "Honey,
Let's go to a park,
Let's listen to a lark."

She said: " I'm staying inside,
But you can go outside,"
So to Deep Cut Park I go,
To witness nature's show:
Zinnias in bloom,
Spreading their perfume.

And other flying flowers
With magical powers:
Butterflies flying around,
Butterflies to astound,
And jump-start
Any jaded heart.

For the next hour or two,
Butterflies I'd pursue;
I was running around,
Without making a sound,
Taking lots and lots
Of close-up shots.

Butterflies made me high--
Don't ask me why;
After my wandering,
I came home pondering:
"Do catterpillars know
Into butterflies they'd grow?"

Comment A grand opportunity was missed to share in this mesmerizing experience with Kulbir, when I preferred to stay home!

I learnt a much needed lesson!

Comment Kulbir, you are in the wrong profession. You are gifted to combine your hobbies like photography and passion for poetry with the appreciation for nature which is so spiritual not only for you but for others. keep up the good work.

Comment There is no gratification beyond what nature offers Kulbir.
None, by far.

What in millions, nay billions of years evolution has attained,

How can us humans ever aspire to create, in but the 2,000 centuries that we've existed?

[Modern humans, Homo sapiens, evolved in Africa up to 200,000 years ago].
