In a concrete world - it caught my eye,
its capital letter limbs, terror of insects,
but a pedestrian fact, web-less on the tarmac,
drawn forward by its own plight,
in my view, hopeless: some green place,
with twigs, and elevation, the solution, but
none there that a quick transfer power-borne
on a scrap of paper could avail;
and all the while, reflecting
on the rearing to its stature, relevance
now so crudely revoked:
what had brought it to this, become
the oracle in my estimate -- it
a life saved: a strategy embarked upon,
matching its method with mine, collapsing
along a silken line each time, and failing. |
