Sunlight makes overkill after the rain
On this bright October evening: the wealth
Of gold bristles in nature's fading health,
And flaked pearl etches a blue domain
Stretching like happiness that eye or plane
In fast cerulean lanes knows here by stealth.
Unreasonable grandeur of that wealth
Aforesaid in the west rises again!
The setting is a true October feast
Of gold that pours out like divinity
Among men - a glimpse of that sun half-smiling,
Half-dazzling, the stunning felicity
That once attended the robes of our Christ:
I met His glance! - for all the unbelieving. |
