Theme: Vision

Haiku for the New Year

Fresh fingers moving
Between white rice grains hiding
Flowers of fresh smell
Both hands stretch and try
To touch the feet shrinking back
Blessings from heaven

Moving down to earth
Anxiety-ridden nimble steps
Vanish near the bend

Food is good with three
Of us jokingly fighting
Teeth chewing alone

Time’s clouds see the bow
Raining down beneath
Arch is wet with hues

Souls in flesh and blood
Moving fingers, eyes wide
A sweet song is heard

Computers perched on
Watch me searching on a page
Words freed from a cage

Words jostling with fear
Vying with themselves for voice
On tiptoe waiting

Distant dreams bedeck
Palm trees beside the blue shore
Abandoned buds bloom

Cuckoos congregate
Dirge in chorus hint at birth
Cradle on the treetops

Green velvet spread
Over the face of earth dreaming
Tears on the petals

Black ice-cold stallions
Pull the reins of December
New Year Jumped in

Good one. May I rewrite line 3 as

Time’s clouds see the bow
Raining down beneath
Fresh paint on the arch
