He shuffled his feet
Made it to the street
Then hopped onto a bus
Without much of a fuss
But no one knew how or when
He had fooled the security men
Pa as he was known
Could not go about alone
A kindly man in the area
Was suffering from dementia
And was kept under surveillance
To avoid his disappearance
But using ingenious ways
Pa had managed to stray away
Causing quite a general flutter
With each one blaming the other
In the family squabble that came after
He was proven to be much smarter
Three days later he was found
In another city safe and sound
Sipping tea with unknown people
At a roadside cafe near a steeple
He was easily recognised from his photo
Published in all the leading journos
That was the end of Pa's escapade
His return home was rather staid
He came back to clear sighs of relief
From a family to whom he'd given grief
With each one promising to take better care
Of the man they loved to avoid such scares
