Transient Snowfall

They saw it coming

like a great animated brush stroke

snow

settling calmly

in the manner of yesterday I told you

the meteorologists

had charted its course how it would

in twenty four hours

leaving pug marks like a leopard in the grass

more to return

rain its colourless cousin stepping in just hours

ago.
