Her window to the outside world
Opened at the tender age of three
The fourth child in the big family
Her temperamental father hurled
Her pet cat from the fourth floor
The squealing little creature flew
Right across the lawn- no meow
As it landed at the guard's door
The girl learnt much that fateful day
When she rushed down to retrieve
Her cat she was left alone to grieve
The mother hurriedly led her away
With promises of getting a new pet
But from that day on she did realise
That happiness could vanish in a trice
Her dad changed but she did not forget
