Theme: Truth

Man's Right

Sometimes the master and sometimes the slave,
The giver of orders, and taker of these,
Inflictor, victim, of priorities;
What else to expect, how else to behave?
No burning issue, except when to save
The right contested: for right cannot cease
To be, reality will not release
Its hold, but fathoms beneath any brave
New world, it rises, and feels as a sounding
Weak in the surface torrent, even yielding;
Turned enemy, it gathers as a hounding,
A burden; a gun-toting, a knife-wielding,
A bombing incidence; even thus, compounding
The evidence: man's right, the truth, unyielding.
