From time immemorial the name of God
has been the foundation of a man’s life,
it has informed his culture and his values,
its seriousness has never been in doubt.
It is a measure of that seriousness
that creates a ritual and ceremony
that is a life on earth being manifested
of the divine, its influence over nature.
The profusion and the variety
of cult might in latter days serve to lessen
veracity, now deemed as superstition
in a world rendered uniform by science.
Worse, science is nothing but that it’s serious
in its claims, lacks religious ecstasy,
but rests content in truth; it promises
nothing but that it deliver here now.
Science is really the divine mode of
humanity, taking stock of the world,
overthrowing God in honest debate,
it would appear, but nothing new at all. |
