Faith and rationality
it has often been claimed
are mutually exclusive, when
operationally
faith is always based on reason.
It is a glimpse of the night sky
that causes the mind to race,
to ratiocinate, and from what
is perceived as its basis
come to derive the existence of a Maker.
It can be easily explained,
the origin and proof of all
belief: the reason for it; and
if a man abandons faith
it is done in the light of a belief.
The faith in science, in trends,
for their demonstrability,
has quite outstripped, it seems,
the faith in God - though not
quite: just look at religion today.
The difference between them is
a difference of certainty
of truth: faith in the world
is faith uncertain: faith
in God, faith founded on a rock. |
