Be Back Soon

"Be back soon"
He shouted
In a drunken drawl
As she  walked
Past him to the door
And stepped outside

An hour later
When hunger pangs
Gripped him
He yelled  aloud
"Did I not say
Be back soon?"

No one answered
His pitch went louder
Until his dog came in
With a note in his mouth
Which read  "Gone forever
Goodbye....Your wife"
