Has a hearty smack,
a deep passionate kiss
hurt the lips ever?
Or, an intricate move
in Odissi or Bharatnatyam
hurt the hips ever?

Have the pulsating jerks
of two entwined hearts
in an intimate clasp
Broken the ribs ever?

Has the swish of the wings
of a flirting butterfly
stealing away honeyed pollen
hurt the flower ever?

Has my hunt for the pearls
in the ocean of your eyes
hurt you ever?

Love envenomed by lust
wheels life's cart not too far;
laced instead by friendship
moves creakless, beyond the star.
