Theme: Lamentation

Ode to Old Age

If my body were a car
I’d change it for a newer one
With dents and scratches all over
Its glitter is no longer fun

But that is just the least of it
With headlights focused out
I find it especially hard to see
Things further than my snout

My traction is no longer great
As once it used to be
I skid and wobble everywhere
Surfaces great may be

My pickup is slow and tardy
Some persistence I do need
With worn and choking fuel lines
To attain some cruising speed

My fuel rate has now fallen
Something always creaks
The exhaust misfires when I cough
The radiator woefully leaks!
