Married to the love of her life
When she was young and starry-eyed
She dreamed happy dreams with him
But soon reality hit and the roses did wilt
There was no money to replace them
Her efforts to salvage them were wasted
Being strong willed and positive minded
She did not give up but encouraged him
Each time he lost his job he'd simply take
To alcoholism and refuse to see reason
She lived through all his hallucinations
With understanding and deep faith in God
Her efforts paid, he did abandon drinking
And sought employment away from home
Once he tasted success he did not turn back
In fact he began to regret all the wasted years
But from her side she just held back her tears
Of joy and sent up a prayer thanking the Lord
