The Lord set out one day to take
Stock of what he had to make
Something that could deeply feel
With a hug and kiss could heal
Burdens great that could endure
Reason, negotiate and ensure
That could put its grief in tears
Love, suffering, pride and fears
Look so soft but be not weak
Handle burdens still not creak
A creation favorite to his heart
He had waited patiently to start
The Devil chanced came passing by
Glimpsed and asked wondering why
For something such was there a need
That functioned on all kinds of feed
Have toughness that would all amaze
In sadness too could keep its grace
With latent strength get on with life
And with courage take on strife
He said "Of them there’ll be no dearth
But they’ll forget what they are worth
At different stages of their life
As daughter, sister, mother, wife" |
