When you exude love
from your pair of comely eyes,
To replace my old pair
without success I run here and there…
To match yours I begged the doe,
It said, ‘Sorry, I am on a retreat,
I can’t lend mine, come after a fortnight.’
Next I reached the almond tree
who said, ‘Sorry, it is not the season.
I don’t hoard without a reason.’
Out of wits, I reached the sea
To pray the dolphin for a pair,
It said, ‘This weekend I have a show, sorry sir.’
Your lotus eyes radiate heat and light,
Heat shall evaporate the sea of my grief,
Light will brighten up my deep dark night,
You give vision of life beyond worldly sight
I can’t match your eye, I am sure,
Yet to see your cherubic beauty
I shall keep my eyes always pure… |
