Theme: Longing

Wishful Yearning

Sleeping child in arms he sits on a heap of wreckage
Staring at the remains opposite men are struggling to move
Cautious indeed! Might there be life under waiting for relief
After long hours of probing he rises
Pained his unfulfilled wish has to wait
He returns next morning and every single morning
Ever since the mighty earthquake struck
Stone face bleeding spirit pleading God in his heart
This Japanese grandpa waits moment after moment
Hoping his grandchildren will come out and run into his arms
Thus ending his trauma
But it’s never ever going to happen
Earthquake swallowed his love for humanity
His thirst never ever will quench
Watching him I empathize with his yearning pain
Wish technology allows me here in India
To stretch out consolation through my idiot box
