The slow drone of helicopters
Surveying the area was common
No one took any notice of them
Considered to be a routine affair
But that morning they sounded
Much louder yet no one seemed
Terribly or overly concerned
Until there was a real deafening
Sound of an explosion followed
By a few more in quick succession
Some people ran on to the streets
To survey the damage others just
Stayed put in their homes fearing
It was probably that fateful day
On which the Almighty had decided
To put an end to man and his misery
Helicopters were only the precursors
The heavens would soon open up
To wreak their anger and finish off
All the weak souls inhabiting earth
All fears and curiosity were soon put to rest
It was an exercise to keep troops in readiness
