Physically challenged though, living sublime,
Saviour of the state,victor of Kanchi
The wooden divinity, Raised on chariot;
The lord of people,the friend of universe,
The almighty.
King of kings ,the gajapati
With broom on hands
Sweeps thy court.
Lord of devotees
Leaving the ratnasinghasan ,out on the streets
Engrossed in mass time and again,
Halted for Dasiabauri and Salabega;
Now lathicharged sebayats
Left you midway;
instead
Thronging people felt doubly blessed
Their lord unveiling on the unveiled chariot
Sunk in devotion
Gazed and gazed with tearful eyes
As long desired-
Everybody got connected --
the mystery of divinity.
I see my Lord
Suffering more and more
With blunt limbs, sitting with waist
chunakala on face
As if overthrown and exiled from heaven
Further humiliated with disrupted service
Descended to people eating dal and rice,
podapitha
At times running fever like man
Truly God of the people
Yet smiling and pulling along
People all over the world
Saying supreme:
Chariot all woes and miseries
Pull and march for mirth and bliss
Make the earth your badadanda
Live like Jagannath.
(Written after observing the unfortunate incident of lathicharge of policemen on sebayats of Puri during car festival 2011 for which shocked and angry priests abandoned rituals.The chariot of Lord Jagannath was left midway for more than 24 hours.Miraculously instead of resorting to violence more and more people thronged and peacefully enjoyed the darshan of their Lord on the unveiled chariot more freely and closely for longer interval and were deeply delighted)

Praful babu, many Oriya words need explanation to make thereaders understand the Kalia thakur better. It was perhaps the design of the chalbaaz to givemore time to the devotees that a lathi charge was ordered! Thank you for your poem on our Lords.
