There have been occasions
when discussing ills of Indian bureaucracy
in private discussions
I too probably thought and said
nepotism being a factor
for inefficiency, among many others.
For nepotism makes one smug,
and incentives do not play a role.
I, like many, wanted a foot-board
at a crucial time in life
and I cannot say,
I too did not get the benefit of nepotism.
An evolving society
does need crutches,
like a vintage car
that would not start
and you need a z-shaped rod
to start it,
and lo! that car starts
and runs fine.
Today, in a modern society,
you need none of those;
you have auto start,
sometimes auto gear,
and my my! what gadgets,
and what dashboards!
Hope India Inc takes up speed
and lands right in front of Europe, America, the G8,
and other powerful groupings.
The crutches of nepotism,
casteism may well be things of the past,
let us hope.
