If someone asked me,
'Do you believe in God?'
I would say: 'Yes.'
And if he then expressed his doubt,
I would tell him we were
on equal footing:
for we're all
equal in the sight of God.
If someone asked me,
'Why do you believe in God?'
I would say: 'Because…'
And if he seemed less than convinced,
I would tell him our opinions
counted for the same:
for we're all
equal in the sight of God.
If someone asked me,
'Do you believe in sexual abstinence?'
I would say: ‘Yes.'
And if he scoffed at the idea,
I would tell him we were
on the same level:
for we're all
equal in the sight of God.
If someone asked me,
'Is there a heaven and a hell?'
I would answer: 'Yes.'
And if he dismissed it as a myth,
I would tell him our
differences were none:
for we're all
equal in the sight of God.
Equal in the sight of God
are we all: equal.
And if our views
are opposed, and the answers clash,
they tell us they're
the same as we are:
and we're all
equal in the sight of God. |
