To Indian indentured laborers today-
Bound for long arduous journeys
Via “kala pani”, and unknown bay!
Pioneering spirit, determination, and resilience
Played the significant roles-
Followed by their endurance, perseverance,
And sacrifice to remind us the tolls!
They preserved the Indian traditions,
Culture and religion in foreign lands-
Despite the insurmountable odds,
They contributed well to their adopted lands!
Triumph of the spirit of Indian-ness
They maintained are well known to Earth-
’Cause of their descendants now carry on
The valor since their birth!
So, this celebration in January today will signify
Renewal of memorials in each year-
And promote dreams and feelings for harmony
On Kolkata soil without any fear!
Rejuvenation is the mantra that we love
And should promise to keep-
Regardless of tantrums from time to time,
And plant seeds of oneness too deep!
Kolkata revives the citizens today
In each and every conceivable way-
And makes us view the silver lining on horizon
To pave our ancestry not to sway!!
