I am Ph. D. in Geology from Panjab University, Chandigarh. I retired from Geological Survey of India as Director (Geology) (Selection Grade) in 2008. I have 60 publications in scientific journals. My field of specialisation is microfossils mainly from Quaternary. I am recipient of National Mineral Award 2000 by the Ministry of Mines in 2002. In a span of more than 33 years of service in Geological Survey of India, I have been engaged in several projects wherein new finds of microfossils have been made. I have received specialised training at Free University Amsterdam for study of samples for microfossils collected during Cruises of Ships with Geological Survey of India. I have worked on sea level fluctuations as also on the pollution of Gomti River.
As an Honorary Member of RWA I have been interacting with residents on societal issues to improve the surroundings. I have been using innovative methods for water conservation in parks so that the water drawn from pumps is not wasted by the gardeners. The parks are now well planted with trees which make the surroundings beautiful and cool.
